So since the process hair got me nowhere....I have decided to embark on the journey of going all nat-u-ral! This was not just because of boos in fact this was more of empowering, liberating type of change I needed to make for myself. I'm going all in with sisterlocks and I'm really excited. What will be interesting is if I will get more play with em......hmmmm?? DC is the land of dreds and natural styles so we shall see. I will keep you posted!

Happy Valentine's Day Booless In DC Family!

Happy Valentine's Day Beautiful People. I know you were probably expecting me to rant and rave about a pending depression centered on not having a boo. Maybe you think I will write about how Valentine's Day is a conspiracy to make single people feel bad. The picture may have mislead you to believe that this post would be headed in that direction...but it was funny I couldn't resist lol. Yet, even though, I am a proud member of the Single Awareness Movement I will not TODAY because I'm actually feeling really GREAT. I am so thankful to have so much love from my Family and Friends that there is no need for me to crack open the Carmel Cone Ice Cream, watch Waiting To Exhale and listen to Ring The Alarm. You and I both know that is a lethal combination.

So I am taking life and love as it comes and enjoying the day!

Where the Snow Boos @ ?

Nothing makes me happier than a snowstorm in DC. It's a time filled with massive closings which allow you to enjoy the comforts of your home. The one thing that would top it off is having a boo to be snowed in with.....well maybe...he would probably get on my nerves by day two but it's a nice thought. Well maybe by next snowfall I will have me a snow bunny boo that wants nothing more than to romance me in the snow...let me stop right there gotta keep this PG lol.

What are your snowed in plans???? Do you want to be booed up in the snow or left alone to have some peace?

Operation DC BOO Exposure 2010

So my good friend Kate and I will embark on a new plan in 2010. In order for me to give you an accurate picture of the shenanigans of the DC brethren and leave no area of this city unturned. We shall hit a new spot each month...different venues, parties, networking, sporting events whatever and bring you these encounters right here for you to read and laugh about. Get ready for new laughs and who knows I may meet someone halfway decent....we shall see....stay tuned!

I knew the day was coming when I would encounter him....As you know DC is a melting pot of characters and although I have been focusing on one extreme there is the other. So my girl and I go hit a live music spot with all the cool, hip, trendy, neo soul but with processed hair black folks on historic U St. There was one of the well dressed clean cut brother amongst the other trendy dressed guys who was looking my way so I said Hey. Then he gave me the stank face look like "how dare I speak". So I gave the look right back....Lol! FYI Mr. Bougie.....Ur Not That Hot...your outfit was nice but not nice enough to be RUDE!

Club First Date....Where they do that at?

So I meet a lil cutie at the club...well that was the first mistake. He was 6ft and better, cold black like I like em with a body like I like em. So we have minimal conversation for about a week and not to my surprise we had nothing in common or any chemistry. Then he was like we should go out on a date. I have never been one to turn down free. So he rescheduled one time...red flag #2, he proceeds to ask me to go out with him at 11pm on U St. I was like what....I don't do club first dates homey. How are we suppose to talk or get to know each other if I can't even here you over the music? Oh I know because that was not your intention...I am not street puntang...lol! I have never been asked that in all my years of dating...I'm too old for that I like to do other things.

I haven't talked to him since was I wrong? Would you go on a club first date...why or why not?

Hey Can I TEXT You....(Texting vs. Calling)

I have noticed that when meeting guys nowadays when they ask for your phone number it is not to have an actual phone conversation but to TEXT you. One of the perks of texting a person you have just met are.....hmmm I will wait....that everything will be misinterpreted or you can put in a minimal amount of effort. I met this bouncer at a club over the weekend mind you I don't remember when the numbers where exchanged * see birthday boo post* and he text me the other day his life story.

Bouncer: Hey how are you?

Me: Fine and U?

Bouncer: Well whats your stats?

Me: Huh?

Bouncer: I'm 26, Divorced, One Son, play basketball, work all day and work the part time at the club, I like to work out

Me: Thanks for your life story but what happened to saying your doing fine

Bouncer: I hope you are not worried about my ex and the fact that I am divorced because we get a long well and have no problems so there is nothing to be worried about

I proceeded to no response mode. Now let's analyze this. He could have just been trying to be straight up with me from the beginning or was nervous about having that convo. Texting can make people BOLD because they can avoid having to think on their feet or that immediate reaction. Which is not the type of person for me. I don't know maybe I am a little old school but this is not a text conversation and a bit much. On top of that he clearly was not following the conversation.

This is a bit of an extreme case but in my conversations with people the word is out that many guys are opting to text rather than call especially with such things as

-I'm going to be late or I'm not coming home tonight

-Hey, how are you - that way they don't have to hear us ramble because we are not going to text everything that happened that day

and so on and so on.......How do you feel about texting vs. calling?
